Troi Automatisering releases Troi File Plug-in 5.5 for FileMaker Pro 11

Updated File Plug-in for FileMaker Pro 11 adds support for OS X Lion.

Alphen aan den Rijn, The Netherlands, July 14th, 2011--Troi Automatisering today announced the immediate availability of Troi File Plug-in 5.5 for FileMaker Pro 11.

What is Troi File Plug-in?

Troi File Plug-in is a very powerful tool for getting access to information outside the FileMaker Pro database. Any files or folders stored on the computer can be accessed through the functions of the plug-in. All from within FileMaker Pro you can:

• get data from files that are on the disk of the computer into FileMaker Pro
• create files anywhere on the hard disk and put data from FileMaker fields into them
• manipulate files and folders on the disk: this includes creating, deleting, copying, moving and modifying files and folders
• get the size on disk, creation and modification dates and much more
• launch and reveal files directly from FileMaker Pro
• manage your images and movies, and read and write IPTC and Exif metadata to JPEG images

What is new in version 5.5?

Troi File Plug-in 5.5 is an upgrade which adds support for Mac OS X Lion. It adds these new features:

• Tested and made compatible with Mac OS X Lion 10.7 (GM).
• Improved the TrFile_ListFolder function: you can now recursively get the list of files and folders and all the subfolders of the folder you are listing.
• (Mac OS X) You can now list the contents of a package folder (like for example a Mac OS X app).
• You can now create square thumbnails with the improved TrFile_CreateThumbnail function.
• Improved the TrFile_MetaData function: added support for getting EXIF data from many types of RAW files.

Troi File Plug-in 5.5 also incorporates these improvements:

• (Windows) Improved TrFile_ListFolder and TrFile_Search function, it now better returns files with higher Unicode characters in the name.
• (Mac OS X) Improved the TrFile_ListFolder and TrFile_Search function: changed the default to returning long file names (up to 255 characters). You no longer need to add the switch "-LongNames" to do this.
• Updated the example files and documentation for the new functionality.
• Fixed a few small issues and made several smaller improvements.

Troi File Plug-in 5.5 works with FileMaker Pro 9, 10 and 11. The plug-in can also be used with runtimes from FileMaker Pro Advanced 9, 10 or 11. The plug-in is available for Mac OS X 10.5.7 or higher, Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7.
QuickTime 7 or later is needed for some image related functions.

FileMaker Server requirements

Troi File Plug-in 5.5 also works with FileMaker Server 9, 10 or 11 as a server-side plug-in and as a plug-in used by the web publishing engine. To use this, you need to purchase a special cross-platform Server/Web license which costs US$ 399.

Upgrade information

Users who bought a license for Troi File Plug-in on or after June 21st, 2010 are entitled to a free upgrade to version 5.5. Eligible users have been sent a new registration string.

Upgrades from licenses bought before June 21st, 2010, are available from US$ 49 per user.
