Troi Automatisering releases URL Plug-in 2.5 for FileMaker Pro 11

New plug-in for FileMaker Pro 11 improves proxy handling and image retrieval from the Internet.

January 20th, 2011, Alphen aan den Rijn, The Netherlands--Troi Automatisering today announced the availability of Troi URL Plug-in 2.5 for FileMaker Pro 11.

What is Troi URL Plug-in?

Troi URL Plug-in can help you fill in forms on the Internet, all from FileMaker Pro. It also retrieves data or images from web sites.

You can:

• use the POST command to fill in a web form and retrieve the result directly in FileMaker Pro
• use the GET command to retrieve data
• use a secure connection (HTTPS) using SSL
• get access to password protected web pages
• encode text into HTTP format
• get JPEG, PNG and GIF images directly into a container field
• send cookies with a request
• show a custom progress dialog during the retrieval (Mac OS X only)
• send your request through a proxy server, even if the proxy server requires a username and password

Suggested Uses

Troi URL plug-in allows you to:

• fill in forms on web sites or your intranet
• get online data like stock quotes, weather reports, etc.
• automatically add information to listings and online databases
• search the Internet for terms or other specific items
• get the time of your city
• collect images from web sites

All these features also work in a runtime solution.

What is new in version 2.5?

Troi URL Plug-in 2.5 adds compatibility with Windows 7 and with FileMaker Pro 11. It also adds new features like improved proxy support and image handling and more. Below are the main improvements:

• Made compatible with FileMaker Pro 10 and FileMaker Pro 11 and Windows 7.
• Added support for proxy server authentication to the TURL_SetProxy function: you can now specify a proxy user name and password.
• Improved the TURL_Get and TURL_Post functions to better support the proxy server credentials.
• Troi URL plug-in is now compatible to run under FileMaker Server. The plug-in now also creates log files when running under FileMaker Server to make troubleshooting installing easier and to provide feedback regarding errors and registration status.
• Completely rewrote the code for handling images which can be retrieved with the TURL_Get and TURL_Post functions. Improved the speed and reliability of getting images and improved handling of invalid and unusual images. Added extra sanity checks for images that are corrupt or invalid.
• Added possibility to unregister the plug-in with the TURL_Version function.
• Added new TURL_VersionAutoUpdate function. The TURL_VersionAutoUpdate function is part of an emerging standard for FileMaker plug-ins of third party vendors of plug-ins.
• Improved code in several places, improved user guide, example files and fixed several smaller bugs.

Troi URL Plug-in 2.5 works with FileMaker Pro 9, 10 and 11. The plug-in can also be used with runtimes created by FileMaker Pro Advanced 9, 10 or 11. The plug-in is available for Mac OS X 10.5.7 or higher, Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Home Edition (SP 3), Windows Vista or Windows 7.

FileMaker Server requirements

Troi URL Plug-in 2.5 also works with FileMaker Server 9, 10 or 11 as a server-side plug-in and as a plug-in used by the web publishing engine. To use this, you need to purchase a special cross-platform Server/Web license which costs US$ 299.

Upgrade information

Users who bought a license for Troi URL Plug-in on or after May 1st, 2010 are entitled to a free upgrade. We will email these registered users a new registration string.

Upgrades from licenses bought before May 1st, 2010, are available from US$ 39 per user.
