Secure encryption for FileMaker Pro 15
Version 3.5 of Troi Encryptor Plug-in was tested and made compatible with FileMaker 15. In this version we improved the multi-threading behavior of the plug-in when running in FileMaker Pro 15. We also added description and type-ahead information for all functions of the plug-in. This extra function description will be shown in FileMaker Pro 15 in the Specify Calculation dialog box when you type a function name and also as a text popup in the functions pane on the right.
Safely store passwords in the keychain
Apart from FileMaker 15 compatibility, version 3.5 adds three new functions that enable you to store passwords in the keychain and retrieve and delete them later, all directly from FileMaker. When you save a password into the keychain, you specify the name of the account (or user) associated with it, and optionally an extra ID, which will help you distinguish between different passwords for the same account. As the keychain is unlocked when the user logs in to the operating system, the password can later be retrieved from it without the user needing to enter the (keychain) password. You can then use the retrieved password to decrypt text in a field, for example with the Encr_DecryptRijndaelAES function. A third function allows you to delete previously stored passwords from the keychain.
On the version history page you can find the complete list of changes of this and previous versions.
AES-256 bit encryption and decryption
Troi Encryptor Plug-in 3.0 and later offers powerful AES-256 bit encryption, as opposed to the now considered less secure 128-bit encryption in previous versions of the plug-in. The EncryptRijndaelAES function will now use AES-256 bit encryption by default. This version stays compatible with older versions, though: you can still use the 128-bit encryption scheme, by using a switch.
Exchange encrypted data with other systems
Troi Encryptor Plug-in has 3 functions that enable you to easily exchange AES-encrypted data with other systems (like for example PHP-mcrypt):
Externally AES-encrypted data can now be decrypted in FileMaker with Troi Encryptor Plug-in and vice versa! In the download we added a PHP mcrypt script which demonstrates how to decrypt data generated with the EncryptAES.fmp12 example file in PHP.
Runs on Windows 10 and OS X 10.11 (El Capitan)
We tested the compatibility of Troi Encryptor Plug-in with Windows 10. This version is also compatible with Windows 8.1, 8 and 7.
Easy installing and updating
With FileMaker Pro 12 and later plug-ins can be installed directly from a container field! This means you no longer need the AutoUpdate feature of FileMaker Server. In our download we have included an example file EasyInstallTroiPlugins.fmp12 which installs (and autoupdates!) our plug-ins with FileMaker Pro and FileMaker Server.
Run as a server-side plug-in
Troi Encryptor Plug-in is compatible to run under FileMaker Server: it can run as a server-side plug-in or as a plug-in used by WebDirect or the web publishing engine when using FileMaker Server. This means that you can use the powerful encryption functions in server-side scripts, opening up lots of new possibilities.
Secure your FileMaker data
Troi Encryptor Plug-in is a very powerful tool for securing your FileMaker data, exporting or emailing your data without risk and importing safely back into FileMaker. With the plug-in installed you can do all this from within FileMaker:
