New FileMaker 21 compatible version lets you position your dialogs when using multiple screens
Lienden, the Netherlands, March 20, 2025–Troi today announced the immediate availability of Troi Dialog Plug-in 12.0 for Claris FileMaker Pro 21.
What is Troi Dialog Plug-in?
Troi Dialog Plug-in is a very powerful tool for displaying all sorts of dialogs in FileMaker Pro. The text of the dialog and of the buttons can be created dynamically by using a script step or a calculation. All from within FileMaker you can:
- show an input dialog to let a user input data in up to 20 fields and up to 4 buttons
- choose these input fields to be any of the following: simple text, password field, popup list or check box
- show a list dialog or very big text dialog
- show temporary flash screens
- show a progress bar for lengthy operations
- schedule the display of notifications
What is new in version 12?
Troi Dialog Plug-in 12 has been tested and made compatible with Claris FileMaker Pro 2024 (FileMaker Pro 21). It has the following new functionality and improvements:
- Tested and made compatible with Claris FileMaker 2023 (FileMaker Pro 20)
- Tested and made compatible with Claris FileMaker 2024 (FileMaker Pro 21).
- Tested and made compatible with macOS 14 (Sonoma) and macOS 15 (Sequoia).
- Tested and made compatible with Windows 11, including Windows 11 version 23H2 (October 31, 2023) and version24H2 (October 1, 2024).
- (macOS) Added new function Dial_GetScreenInfo, which returns (position) information of all the screens (displays) that are currently attached to this computer. This function can also return the number of screens and the screen ID and the serial number of a display.
- (macOS) Added new function Dial_GetGlobalScreenPosition, which returns screen (position) information of the front FileMaker window or of a specific screen.
- Added new function Dial_CenterPointOfRect, which returns the center point of the input rectangle.
- Added new “-UseCenterCoordinates” switch to the Dial_SetPosition function. If you add this switch the coordinates specify where the center of the dialog will be positioned (instead of the top/left of the dialog).
- Added new “-AllText” switch to the Dial_GetInput function. If you add this switch the result is a list of all texts items, separated by a return character. You can further modify the result list by adding these extra switches: “-DontAddEmptyLines” and “-ReturnAtEnd”.
- (Windows) Improved the Dial_InputDialog function, the dialog now handles scaling of the display better and the height of the dialog is now better on screens with higher scale factors.
- (Windows) Improved the display of custom icons: the plug-in now handles scaling of the icons better and the icon size is now better on screens with higher scale factors.
Troi Dialog Plug-in 12 also improves Notification triggering:
- (macOS) Modernized the code for notification triggering.
- Improved script triggering when handling notifications created with the Schedule Notification script step or the Dial_ScheduleNotification function: the plug-in now also triggers scripts where the filename parameter contains a period in the name and the (.fmp12) extension was not included (the FileMaker function “Get(Filename)” will not include the extension).For example if the filename parameter given is “Dialog1.0” the plug-in now adds the .fmp12 extension, resulting in triggering a script in “Dialog1.0.fmp12”.
- Updated the Notification.fmp12 example file.
Furthermore we improved security, improved the start-up registration log and made some bug fixes and other changes.

Upgrade information
Version 12 needs a new registration string. If you bought a license on or after january 1, 2024 the upgrade is FREE! Eligible users will be sent a new v12 registration code. Contact us if you have not received yours after March 24, 2025.
